Mountain peaks, gorges, picturesque traditional villages, monasteries, quiet forests, rare plants and animals, quaint stone bridges, rushing rivers, the highest waterfalls in Greece special gastronomic experiences: The Tzoumerka Mountains
Hiking – Climbing – Rafting – Canyoning – River Trekking
Adventure hiking in Greece: The Tzoumerka Mountains have many faces and promise unique experiences and surprises. A mountain region with over 15 undiscovered gorges! Activity, adventure and enjoyment await you. Unique landscape, seven waterfalls, natural swimming pools, flora and fauna amaze the visitors. Experience unforgettable moments!
After our certified mountain guide has welcomed us with a snack and homemade Tsipouro, we start our first hike to the highest waterfall in Greece! At an altitude of 1350 metres we enjoy an impressive view of the three largest waterfalls in the country. They have a height of 150 meters and are surrounded by mountains up to 2430 meters high. On our second hike we meet one of the most beautiful rivers of Greece, the “Arachtos River”. It is the largest river in the region and is ideal for water activities. Here we start our exciting rafting tour. At the end of the tour we visit a traditional private wine cellar for relaxation. There we have a wine tasting with snack. The river hike starts at an altitude of 1300 meters and ends at an altitude of 800 meters.
We hike beside vertical cliffs to a mountain peak at 2112 meters, where a spectacular view over the mountains awaits us. During canyoning we cross one of the most impressive gorges in Greece. In order to make the crossing of the gorges safe, it takes place with special equipment provided by us and of course with an experienced guide. Another highlight is our climbing tour next to a waterfall with a height of 110 meters! Our adventure hiking trip concludes a visit to Thessaloniki, the metropolis and second largest city of Greece. In the city centre you can feel the Mediterranean joie de vivre, day or night. With each step you discover new secrets: Historic cafés, cosy bars and clubs in industrial locations and concerts in old warehouses.
In the village Pramanta, which is located at about 1000 meters altitude at the foot of the mountain “Strongula”, you stay in a very beautiful four star hotel, which is surrounded by a breathtaking natural landscape. In the hotel restaurant you can enjoy the local cuisine with its great variety of well prepared dishes, cheese from local cheese dairies and meat from local animal breeders at lunch and dinner. In 2014 the hotel restaurant was awarded by the European Council for Gastronomy and Wine Culture. The hotel also participates in the Greek Breakfast project and offers a wide selection of traditional dishes. In Thessaloniki you stay in a double room in a 3* hotel in the heart of the city.
